Le révélateur

The French edition of Burning In, titled Le révélateur, was translated by Josette Chicheportiche and published  in 2012.

Oscillating between history and the present, between disappearance and reappearance, …(Burning In) raises questions about complex relationships between happiness, memory and forgetting. Can one go backwards towards the future?

Le Monde, Paris, 2012

…a fine novel about exile, memory, the unsaid stories which hinder understanding among people. It is photography which weaves the leading thread, at first as the passionate activity of Martine, and then as the revealer of secrets and witness to a past, and finally as the antidote to sadness.

Saint-Georges-sur-Baulche library blog, France, 2012

…thanks to the graceful flow of Mireille Juchau’s writing, there remains floating before our eyes this extra quality of the soul, which photographers sometimes capture—those moments taken from the black and white of life, which bear witness to that which words often struggle to express: “It is not the photo that reveals hidden things, but sorrow.”

- Christiane Miege, Chronicles of the literary season, France 2012
